Tenerife has two airports which shows the importance of this isle within the international scenario, consolidating itself as one of the main tourist destination on the European level. Thanks to all this, it has frequent and regular connections with the rest of the isles of the archipelago, with the peninsular Spain and with the most important cities in the world.
The international airport 'Reina Sofía'or 'Tenerife Sur', placed in the south of the isle, annually receives nine million of passengers, what places it among the first airports of Spain with connections to any country of the world; in this airport 150 air companies operate.
The airport 'Tenerife Norte', which also has international character, is placed in the town of San Cristóbal in La Laguna, which is 10 km far from the chief town, annually receives around three million of passengers. |
