Tenerife, as the rest of the Spanish territory, is a part of the European union, and although the whole of the Community politics are applied, it has important specifications derived from its distance and insularity which allow it to benefit from a economic and financial system which is different because there are important incentives. Administrative speaking, the isle has its own government organ, Cabildo Insular, with ample powers, whose annual budget for 2005 is around 650 million of euros. |
